HARLEY DAVIDSON

1958 Harley Davidson XLH Sportster

In 1957, the 55ci, 900cc Harley Davidson XL Sportster, with its modern overhead valve design, came into being to take the place of Harley’s then antiquated 55ci flathead K Model motorcycle. In 1958, Harley split the XL moniker into the street version XLH and their “Competition Hot” or “California Highway” dirt bike called the XLCH. In 1959, the XLCH grew a set of lights, but that is a story for another time and the XLH became the little brother to the road going FL’s of the day. The 1958 XLH offered here has been nicely restored to ride and is reported to be a good runner.
