HARLEY DAVIDSON

1961 Harley Davidson FL Duo Glide

1957 saw the very last rigid frame 74ci. big twin model roll off the Harley assembly line and, in 1958, Harley Davidson introduced the very first “Duo Glide”, which sported not only the Hydro Glide front suspension but also integrated the proven swing arm frame system utilizing the twin rear shock suspension to cushion the ride. The last “Duo Glide” model ended in 1964 when the new 12 volt system and the electric start came into play, and the Electra Glide was then born in 1965. This very beautiful and expertly restored 1961 FL has gone all the way through the AMCA judging system and has earned its “Senior First” award with a score sheet in the high 90’s marque. The restoration was performed by the So. Cal. AMCA Chapter president, Craig Taylor, utilizing mostly all OEM and NOS parts throughout the motorcycle build. All sheetmetal and major components are true to the motorcycle and all mechanical components have been fully rebuilt to OEM standards. With the beautiful Hi-Fi Red and Birch White paint scheme, along with the ample chrome accents, this very solid and nicely restored example would make an excellent vintage rider or a beautiful centerpiece for any classic bike collection or man cave.
