The Velocette Thruxton was introduced in 1965 with a highly tuned 500cc OHV single engine with a large valve head and redeveloped inlet tract. Standard equipment also included an Amal GP racing carburetor, clip-on handlebars, rear set pegs and a twin-leading-shoe front brake. The Velocette Motorcycle Company was based out of Birmingham, England, from 1905 to 1970 and produced machines that were constant winners through the years at many Grand Prix and TT racing events. The Thruxton was reported to hit a top speed of 120 MPH which was a great accomplishment for a 500cc air-cooled overhead valve engine. This very nice machine was imported into the US approximately 20 years ago and has since been on display in a prominent motorcycle collection. The motorcycle has never been registered or titled in the US and will be selling on a bill of sale only. It has recently undergone a full detail and service and is ready for the road or its next display.
